OLD ONE BUT GOOD ONE!
Chennai: A good cop who fights terrorism and it's impact on the youth — that's what Captain Vijayakanth is doing these days in reel life. His yet-to-be released 150th film is called Arasangam (Government) — a title that perhaps reflects his ultimate political ambition.
"There is no political message in this film. Whatever I have said in the past, I have said in this one too. Maybe I will make another film to give out all my political views and the mistakes of this government," DMDK President and Tamil superstar Vijayakanth says.
As he dances to the drum beats in his film, in real life politics he's getting ready for his next big political challenge —the Lok Sabha elections.
Vijayakanth’s emergence as a strong third force with over eight per cent votes in the last assembly elections has meant that both Jayalalithaa and the DMK are increasingly wary of his party.
But to turn his votes into seats and to fight a Lok Sabha election he needs an ally.
"I have fought alone and I do not want any alliance. Everyone else is speaking about my party and that shows that we are a powerful force," Vijayakantha says.
Staying solo and taking on the villains is easy on screen, but in the real life political battle is a different story, and observers feel Vijayakanth will have to answer the tricky alliance question sooner than later.
